Bus Safety Reminders

Dear Families,

We are asking for your support in making before and after school transitions as safe as possible for our children.

Before School: There are four designated bus drop-off posters displayed on the fence in front of the school.  Please do not stop or park in these locations between 8:25 and 8:45 am.  Parents are asked to remind their children to cross the street at the main intersection (Broad and 2nd Ave), even if it means a little extra walking.

After School: As always, Broad Street is closed from 3:23 – 3:30 pm.  At 3:30 pm, the crossing guards will let all 22 buses go before removing the pylons and allowing regular traffic to resume.  Again, students are asked to use the main crosswalk, which is monitored by our Safety Patrol.

Key points to review with your children:

-If a student misses the bus or is unsure where to go after school, they should enter the school through the front doors and go to the office for help.

-For parents doing pick up, it is helpful to have a pre-planned meeting spot.

-Remember to communicate with bus drivers when plans change.

As a standard, our ÉLES families do a wonderful job coordinating these transitions and we are grateful for the care and attention that is demonstrated in our school zone.  Thank you for your ongoing support as we work to coordinate 22 buses and 619 students before and after the school day!
